Alloy Pittsburgh is a unique visual and performing arts project co-founded by Pittsburgh artists Sean Derry and Chris McGinnis. The project was developed in collaboration with the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area and the Kipp Gallery at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Alloy Pittsburgh offers 15 artists from the greater Pittsburgh region the opportunity to develop temporary site-based artworks for the Carrie Furnace National Historic Landmark.

Site visit

Alloy Pittsburgh Applicants.

The ROS will not be accommodating requests to visit the Carrie Furnace National Landmark in preparations for Alloy Pittsburgh proposals.  Due to the large applicant pool, it is unrealistic for everyone to visit the site before the deadline and we never expected that applicants would do so.  All project proposals will be judged on their uniqueness and creative potential, not on prior knowledge of the site. Please recognize the purpose of the one-week research period in June is to provide selected artists time for inspiration and to work through various ideas/locations onsite.

Thank you,

The Alloy Pittsburgh Team
